Surf Club Constitution
In April 2016 Surf Life Saving Queensland redrafted their Model Constitution.
The KW SLSC Committee then produced a revised KW SLSC Constitution dated July 2016 based on the SLSQ model and the existing January 2014 version.
At the Annual General Meeting dated 9th July 2016, the revised Constitution was accepted with the exception of clause 12.2 a - Life Membership which follows;
"The Board may recommend to the Annual General Meeting that any natural person who has rendered ten (10) years distinguished, extraordinary, outstanding and conspicuous service to the club and/or the Association be appointed as a Life Member. "
The clause was omitted and was to be modified and presented at a future Special General Meeting to be set by the 2016/17 Committee.
Subsequently the Special General Meeting was held on the 4th February 2017 with the following motions carried.
“12.2 Life Members
(a) The Board may recommend to the Annual General Meeting that any natural
person who has rendered ten (10) years distinguished, extraordinary,
outstanding and conspicuous service to the club and/or the Association be
appointed as a Life Member. A period of service less than ten (10) years may
be considered where circumstances including health or work related
constraints have prevented the natural person from attaining the period
(b) A maximum of two (2) life membership nominations will be considered in any
calendar year and strict confidentiality must be adhered to by all parties. The
Board will determine which candidates are referred to Life Membership
Panels. For a period of two calendar years following the ratification of this
constitution a temporary maximum of four (4) life membership nominations
will be considered."
As at Monday 6th February 2017 the new July 2016 Constitution is being submitted to SLSQ and the Department of Fair Trading.
Members will be advised when this process has been completed.
