WHAT DOES GETTING YOUR SRC/BRONZE LOOK LIKE…..

1. Become a Member
To undertake an SRC or Bronze Medallion course, you must first become a financial member of our club. JOIN KWSLSC
2. Blue Card (18+ Members)
If you are over 18 and intend to participate in patrols, training, or youth activities, a Blue Card may be required. BlueCard.
3. Unique Student Identifier (USI)
A USI is required for nationally recognised training. Don't have one? Get your USI number
4. Start Swim Training
We strongly recommend commencing swim training several weeks before the course begins.
One of our coaches trains at Kawana Aquatic Centre on Monday and Wednesday evenings. Cost: Pool entry only.
If you'd like to join these sessions, indicate this on the Expression of Interest form and we'll add you to our Messenger group.
If you already have a Blue Card or a USI, please email the Surf Office with your details and they can link the information to your new membership.

Surf Rescue Certificate (SRC)
Minimum Age: 13 yearsBefore commencing practical training, candidates must complete:
✓ 200m swim in under 5 minutes
Bronze Medallion
Minimum Age: 15 years on final assessmentBefore commencing practical training, candidates must complete:
✓ 400m swim in under 9 minutes
We recommend spending at least a few weeks in the pool before training commences.
Attendance Expectations
To ensure competency and successful course completion, candidates are expected to attend a minimum of 80% of scheduled training sessions.
What You'll Learn
Throughout the course you'll develop skills in:
✓ Surf awareness and beach safety
✓ Rescue techniques
✓ Rescue tube rescues
✓ Rescue board skills
✓ Radio communications
✓ First Aid
✓ CPR and Resuscitation
✓ Teamwork and patrol operationsRescue Board Experience
If you have little or no board experience and would like to attend a beginner board familiarisation session before training commences, please let us know via the Expression of Interest form.

Before Training Starts
□ Join the club
□ Obtain your USI
□ Apply for a Blue Card (if required)

□ Begin swim training

□ Attend course induction
