OUR CLUB

A PROUD HISTORY

The idea of a surf club at Kawana emerged in 1980 when the Kawana Apex Club sought a service project. After several tragic drownings and discovering that some members held Bronze Medallions, the club was formed on September 12, 1980.

Volunteers built a patrol shed and, later, a clubhouse, which opened on November 21, 1982, with a loan from the Commonwealth Bank Kawana. The club repaid the $99,000 loan by its 10th anniversary.

Now celebrating our 40th anniversary, the club has undergone many renovations and expansions, with growing patrolling member numbers as more families call Kawana home.

OUR NEW CLUB

Stage One is now complete!
We are excited to announce that our brand-new reception area and Surf Facility are fully operational. This new space includes upgraded storage for all our vital lifesaving equipment, a dedicated training room, and a modern boardroom.

Stage Two is now underway, made possible by the generous $10 million donation from our Club Patron and local member, Jarrid Bleijie. Design work is currently in progress, and we look forward to sharing more details as this next phase develops.

Reception is now open, and all members and visitors can access the club via the new reception entrance located on the south side of the building.

More exciting upgrades are on the way—stay tuned!
