HOW YOU CAN HELP OUT

Parents can play a vital role in helping out with SLSQ (Surf Life Saving Queensland) Nippers—a junior surf lifesaving program designed to teach kids surf safety and lifesaving skills. Here are several ways parents can get involved and support the program:

🛟 1. Water Safety & Age Managers

  • Water Safety Personnel: If you're Bronze Medallion qualified (or willing to get qualified), you can help supervise kids in the water.

  • Age Manager: Supervise, coach, and mentor a specific age group (training is provided).

👟 2. General Volunteering Roles

  • Beach Set-Up & Pack-Up: Help set up flags, boards, and shelters before and after sessions.

  • BBQ & Fundraising: Run sausage sizzles, assist with club fundraising events.

  • Uniforms & Admin: Help with distributing uniforms, checking attendance, or administrative tasks.

📷 3. Supportive Roles

  • Photography/Videography: Capture moments during sessions (with parental permissions).

  • Transport & Logistics: Help move equipment or drive boards/trailers to and from storage.

🧑‍🏫 4. Encouraging Participation

  • Be present and encouraging on the beach.

  • Reinforce water safety messages at home.

  • Help your child be prepared—sun protection, hydration, and correct gear.

🧠 5. Training & Development

  • Consider taking courses like:

    • Bronze Medallion (for water safety)

    • Age Manager Course

    • First Aid/CPR
